A little something to remember...

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day that says,
"I will try again tomorrow."

My solution for gay marriage.

If the federal government would abolish the term marriage completely, everything would be fine. It's purely a semantic issue.

Here's how it works. The government would dissolve all marriages and replace them with 'civil unions' everyone would have the same rights. People who have been married for many years would get a new legal document dated retroactively to the date of their original marriage. If people want to be 'married', they then take their Civil Union License to the church and get married in the spiritual sense. But a church marriage means nothing in the eyes of the law. You have to have a Civil Union License in order to 'marry' in the church. Church only marriages wouldn't be legal. Total separation of church and state.

If there's no more marriage in the legal sense, everyone would have the same rights. Gays and straights would be on equal ground in the eyes of the government.

Seems simple enough really.

Help hit the LDS church where it counts!

If you are as upset as I am about the passing of Proposition 8 in California, please help me do something about it. The Mormon church donated $22 million to get this marriage amendment to pass. That is completely unethical for a church that receives tax exempt status from the US Government. Please follow the link below and take 5 minutes to print out the various forms, put a stamp on it, and send it to the IRS. We can all say we're pissed off until we're blue in the face, but this is going to take action on our part.

HNT #75

Happy HNT! For #75 I figured I'd share the naughty version of my Halloween costume with you. I went dressed as Aquaman on Halloween night, but the following night I went to a little more risque party dressed in this version of the costume. Hope everyone had a great Halloween!

The results are in

Obama won in a landslide victory for the Democrats. Democrats took control of both the House and Senate. I see these a huge steps forward for the United States of America. Obama's victory gave voice to America's clear need for change after enduring 8 long years being led by George Bush. I woke up this morning with a renewed sense of hope and happiness.

That happiness came with a bittersweet twinge to it. Florida, Arizona, and California all passed bans on gay marriage. I was sad to learn that in a country that finally embraced a black man, there is still so much hatred and prejudice toward gay and lesbian people. The 'pro-family' movement that was so gung-ho about passing these bans has now destroyed hundreds of new families. I don't understand why it's anyone's business who people love anyway.

Obama=One step forward.
Prop 8=Two steps backward.

Way to go California. I'm ashamed.
